The serrano is one of the most iconic Mexican chili peppers. Serrano are easy to recognize because of their body that is shaped like a small torpedo. Serrano Peppers are most commonly green, which can make it even easier to mistake for a jalapeño. However, you can also find these peppers in red, yellow, orange, and brown.
 
The green Serrano peppers are milder in terms of heat compared to other colors of peppers. Serrano peppers are commonly used in Mexican dishes. They are also commonly eaten raw, roasted, or pickled. They have a sweet, green vegetal flavor similar to a green pepper.
