The Piquin is a wild pepper that is actually the ancestor of most chiles cultivated in Mexico and is commonly used to add the authentic flavour in Pico de Galo. Piquin is loved for its flavour and heat and can be added to many kinds of salsa as well! 

 

This wild chile packs quite alot of heat so a little goes a long way! It is also common in Mexico to sprinkle gorund up Piquin chile on fruits or salads.
