This rare Cardamom is distinctly different from Indian Black Cardamom, with notes of camphor and a lot less smokiness compared to the Indian variation. Chinese Black Cardamom comes from the mountainous region of Yunnan Province in South West China. Wedged in between the borders of Burma and Tibet makes unique growing conditions for this delicious and rare spice.

 

In Yunnan Black Cardamom is used in slow cooking soups, stews and pork dishes. Its also commonly cooked with Yunnan chilies and Szechuan Peppercorns in oil to make a chili paste that is great for dipping dumplings in! Try the rare flavors of remote Yunnan China!
