Pompona vanilla is a rare type of vanilla bean grown in Mexico and other tropical areas of Central and South America. Pompona vanilla may in fact have been the first vanilla bean to be used, It was recorded by explorers who were traveling through Mexico at the time of discovery. Pompona beans could have been used to flavor the first, Xocolatl, a popular cacao-infused beverage made by Aztecs and Mayans thousands of years ago.
 
This amazing Vanilla was produced in the cardamom scented hills in the cloud forests of Alta Verapaz in Guatemala. Its flavour profile is of fresh ripe plums dried fruits and cherries.
