Related to Ginger, but with less spiciness is Galangal. Galangal is used in place of ginger throughout South East Asian cuisines. It's very common in Thailand to season curry pastes, soups, and many other dishes as well. It is more commonly used fresh, but the dried powder of Galangal can be substituted in recipes if fresh Galangal is not available.

We keep our dried Galangal in slivers, this way you have the option to keep it whole or grind into a powder making it much fresher and better suited to substitute for the fresh stuff.
